About Us

Hi! I am Angela Monteith, the sole trainer, owner, and operator of The Empowered Dog, LLC. I have been training dogs professionally since 2010 and relocated to the Muskegon, Michigan area in July 2020 with my husband. 

Currently, I do not have a facility so all of my training will take place in the comfort of your home either in-person or virtually. 

I started training dogs after hiring a trainer to help me with mine. She mentored me and helped shape me into the trainer that I am today! Over the course of my career, I have attended many continuing education seminars, workshops, and certification camps. 

As I encountered more dogs, my career path began to shift and my focus turned to puppy development and helping dogs with anxiety and phobias. Dogs that have high energy, nervous tendencies and thunderstorm/firework phobias are dogs that I really enjoy helping with my unique training background. 

This happened because I happen to own one of those dogs and her name is Kona. She presented me with many different challenges that took me down different roads of training. After everything I learned, I knew I needed to form The Empowered Dog and help more owners with dogs like mine. 

I am located just northeast of Muskegon and am a quick 20 minute drive to many other local villages and towns.
